Exclusive: Proud Boys leader was ‘prolific’ informer for law enforcement

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys extremist group, has a past as an informer for federal and local law enforcement, repeatedly working undercover for investigators after he was arrested in 2012, according to a former prosecutor and a transcript of a 2014 federal court proceeding obtained by Reuters.

  • The headline reads as if he was an informant against the Proud Boys. This first paragraph immediately blows that assertion out of the water. Calling the Proud Boys an extremist group is just more bias hackary. If this is true why haven’t the FBI shut them down? They operate totally out in the open where are all the investigations?

In the Miami hearing, a federal prosecutor, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and Tarrio’s own lawyer described his undercover work and said he had helped authorities prosecute more than a dozen people in various cases involving drugs, gambling and human smuggling.

Tarrio, in an interview with Reuters Tuesday, denied working undercover or cooperating in cases against others. “I don’t know any of this,” he said, when asked about the transcript. “I don’t recall any of this.”

  • This is pretty simple if he did in fact inform on anyone but especially human trafficking (almost exclusively Mexican cartel) he might not want that getting out. Then again it wouldn’t be a shock to find out this is exactly why this information was leaked.

Law-enforcement officials and the court transcript contradict Tarrio’s denial. In a statement to Reuters, the former federal prosecutor in Tarrio’s case, Vanessa Singh Johannes, confirmed that “he cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises, ranging from running marijuana grow houses in Miami to operating pharmaceutical fraud schemes.”

  • Like I said above someone being named in this sort of situation is wildly inappropriate. Seems to become clear this was a politically motivated and gross move by Johannes. Also notice the mention court transcripts but never mention that they were leaked. Which they must have been as they wouldn’t make an informant especially a “prolific” ones name public. This is just a general beef with “journalism” these days anyway where is the proof. That is a pretty serious claim to only back up with a pull quote from a clearly bias party.

Tarrio, 36, is a high-profile figure who organizes and leads the right-wing Proud Boys in their confrontations with those they believe to be Antifa, short for “anti-fascism,” an amorphous and often violent leftist movement. The Proud Boys were involved in the deadly insurrection at the Capitol January 6.

  • This entire paragraph is just a lie. The Proud Boys have never showed up to any AntiFa event. (I will admit they may have had small groups of their people counter protest but never anything organized) I only add that caveat because I don’t know for sure that’s never happened. AntiFa has shown up to many events the Proud Boys were attending. Many times they were asked to show up to provide security in places the police and known to stand down when AntiFa is attacking a conservative event. AntiFa is not an amorphous group there are many investigative journalist who have infiltrated the group and shown it is extremely organized and well-funded.

The records uncovered by Reuters are startling because they show that a leader of a far-right group now under intense scrutiny by law enforcement was previously an active collaborator with criminal investigators.

  • This statement is just hyperbolic why is that “startaling”?

Washington police arrested Tarrio in early January when he arrived in the city two days before the Capitol Hill riot. He was charged with possessing two high-capacity rifle magazines, and burning a Black Lives Matter banner during a December demonstration by supporters of former President Donald Trump. The D.C. Superior Court ordered him to leave the city pending a court date in June.

  • The magazines were unloaded and he didn’t have a gun. There was no explanation further so I won’t weigh in. Arrested for burning a BLM flag that’s funny because BLM burned many American flags in DC and elsewhere and no one was arrested for it.

Though Tarrio did not take part in the Capitol insurrection, at least five Proud Boys members have been charged in the riot. The FBI previously said Tarrio’s earlier arrest was an effort to preempt the events of January 6.

  • Don’t have much to add here members of Proud Boys being at the capitol that day isn’t shocking. There are plenty of videos showing the police opening doors and letting people into a public building. No denying there were people acting like idiots and destroying things but I haven’t seen anything where any of these guys were charged with any such crimes. This is playing on emotion plain and simple.

The transcript from 2014 shines a new light on Tarrio’s past connections to law enforcement. During the hearing, the prosecutor and Tarrio’s defense attorney asked a judge to reduce the prison sentence of Tarrio and two co-defendants. They had pleaded guilty in a fraud case related to the relabeling and sale of stolen diabetes test kits.

  • Here we are again will them pulling things from transcripts they do not provide. Also there is a concerning lack of “” in this statement. They have the transcipt why not at least provide a quote from it?

The prosecutor said Tarrio’s information had led to the prosecution of 13 people on federal charges in two separate cases, and had helped local authorities investigate a gambling ring.

Tarrio’s then-lawyer Jeffrey Feiler said in court that his client had worked undercover in numerous investigations, one involving the sale of anabolic steroids, another regarding “wholesale prescription narcotics” and a third targeting human smuggling. He said Tarrio helped police uncover three marijuana grow houses, and was a “prolific” cooperator.

  • Again this must be from leaked material or they are getting the info hear say. Also if he did in fact do any of this isn’t that a good thing? Something that stands out “prolific” cooperator…..why is only prolific in quotes? Did they pull it out of context?

There is no evidence Tarrio has cooperated with authorities since then. In interviews with Reuters, however, he said that before rallies in various cities, he would let police departments know of the Proud Boys’ plans. It is unclear if this was actually the case. He said he stopped this coordination after December 12 because the D.C. police had cracked down on the group.

  • It is pretty well know the Proud Boys are big blue lives matters supporters so what he is saying is most likely true. No matter how much this “journalist” tries to make it sound like he’s lying. The DC police were doing exactly what the NY police did to a few of the Proud Boys that landed a couple of them in jail for long stretches. They were going to show up and only arrest the Proud Boys. (There is security video of the fight in NY two Proud Boys got jumped by a group of AntiFa and ended up winning the fight.)

Tarrio on Tuesday acknowledged that his fraud sentence was reduced, from 30 months to 16 months, but insisted that leniency was provided only because he and his co-defendants helped investigators “clear up” questions about his own case. He said he never helped investigate others.

  • Again why would you out yourself as an informant?

That comment contrasts with statements made in court by the prosecutor, his lawyer and the FBI. The judge in the case, Joan A. Lenard, said Tarrio “provided substantial assistance in the investigation and prosecution of other persons involved in criminal conduct.”

As Trump supporters challenged the Republican’s election loss in often violent demonstrations, Tarrio stood out for his swagger as he led crowds of mostly white Proud Boys in a series of confrontations and street brawls in Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, and elsewhere.

  • In often violent demonstrations? Again just a flat out lie. Mostly white Proud Boys, two things are funny about this. One Tarrio isn’t white and Two AntiFa is almost exclusively white yet I have never heard of them described this way.

The Proud Boys, founded in 2016, began as a group protesting political correctness and perceived constraints on masculinity. It grew into a group with distinctive colors of yellow and black that embraced street fighting. In September their profile soared when Trump called on them to “Stand back and stand by.” Tarrio, based in Miami, became the national chairman of the group in 2018.

  • Embraced street fighting? They were the first and only group to finally hit back and protect (mostly women) conservatives who were constantly being attacked by AntiFa.

In November and December, Tarrio led the Proud Boys through the streets of D.C. after Trump’s loss. Video shows him on December 11 with a bullhorn in front of a large crowd. “To the parasites both in Congress, and in that stolen White House,” he said. “You want a war, you got one!” The crowd roared. The next day Tarrio burned the BLM banner.

  • We can pearl clutch and act offended by this rhetoric all we want but I won’t say anything until both sides are held to the same standard. That type of rhetoric is mundane compared to your typical AntiFa or BLM rally. “Pigs in a blanket fry em up like bacon” is one that stands out. Will it lead to bad things happening maybe. But until both sides are held accountable its disarming to be out raged from one side.

Former prosecutor Johannes said she was surprised that the defendant she prosecuted for fraud is now a key player in the violent movement that sought to halt the certification of President Joe Biden.

“I knew that he was a fraudster – but had no reason to know that he was also a domestic terrorist,” she said.

  • This appears to be the person who provided all of the information for this article. Does that sound like some who is neutral?

This is Reuters an outlet that the average person would think is pretty unbiased this is the “state” of our media today. Pun intended

Unprecedented

This word is used a lot the last few months with regards to our new POTUS. Major news networks, late night comics and social media, have all described many of President Trumps actions as unprecedented. But when you actually look into those claims you will find, there actually is something unprecedented going on, but it is not anything being done by the President. Most of the actions and orders being issued by President Trump to this point are pretty benign. Many of these actions including the “travel ban”, which is being portrayed as some grossly racist action were also implemented by his predecessor without a peep from the media. What is unprecedented is the complete and seemingly blind defiance against the new administration from both the media and sitting politicians.

Anytime a new administration takes office and we see a transition to a new party there is inevitably some push back from the other side. Many times the sitting politicians in the house and senate will use this chance to appear to be “standing up” for their constituents against the new administration. Usually this is done fairly quietly with little to no media coverage. Now in the past if you were a political junky you could defiantly follow these events but you normally had to seek them out. The average American used to go out vote, and then leave the politics up to the politicians. Now there was some hype post-election in ’09 but that didn’t last very long and things went back to normal after a few weeks.

We are a full month into the Trump presidency and other than never hearing about Hillary you would never know the election ended. The attacks have never stopped whether it is the MSM or some actor at an awards ceremony there is just constant bashing of the new POTUS and the people who voted him into office. Maybe the worst part of the whole situation is most of these attacks are based on flat out lies.

The “travel ban”, this is one of the biggest lies that has been told even by politicians. The statement “Muslim ban” was used by more than one politician when talking about the executive action to restrict travel from 7 countries. There is a link below to the executive order you can follow yourself, I did a search on the page and the word Muslim does not show up even once in the order. If you are a politician and you make a statement as inflammatory as accusing the POTUS of excluding entry into the country based on religion, you better know what the hell you are talking about. These leftist want to talk about inflammatory rhetoric they better look in the mirror. When idiots like late night comics or celebrities on social media do this, while it is still stupid and irresponsible. But for politicians this should be career ending. It shows they either didn’t read the order before making a statement or they purposely lied and either one is unacceptable, the MSM should be held to a similar standard.

If you want to see unprecedented look at this…..

c3iwn_xueaap8js

There is this blind push back by the media, celebrities and people in the general public that is just flat out scary. Why are these, many of who are very powerful people so against President Trump. Most of them don’t make clear arguments as to what they hate so much, most of which is based in hypothetical scenarios. These scenarios often created off of lies about the Presidents views than anything he has actually said he wants to get done.

Then you have the push back by the public which seems to be mostly from a loud and violent minority. One exception to that which got a lot of participation was the women’s march. Although I believe that was more from the name than it actually being anti President Trump, who doesn’t want women to have equal rights and opportunities? I doubt it would have gotten as much participation had they named it as a counter to The March for life (which it was) that happened the next week. I don’t think the “March for death” would have been attended as well. The signs and interviews at the march were very confusing. Most of the signs didn’t really have anything about policy or rights that women wanted but did not have. Most were just vulgar and seemed to be an excuse to write pussy on a sign in big letters and carry it around in public. Many of the interviews at these rallies were met with people who didn’t seem to know why they were there, well not with any specifics anyway. The most articulate argument that was being made was about the wage gap, which has been debunked on more than one occasion. (Links below)

This lack of understanding seems to be a theme at many of these protest. When someone tries to get a reason from one of the participants it is almost always met with talking points or just “NAZI RACIST FACIST” and no substance. It just seems like if you are going to take time out of your day and risk going to jail you might want to at least have some depth of understanding as to why you are there.

So while there are many unprecedented things going on in the country today, it has a very different source than CNN or MSNBC would have you believe.

Blitzkrieg by the left

Starting early on in the Trump campaign this became the apparent strategy by the left. While they have been doing this for years it seems to have been turned up as of late. They will just fire off as many attacks, true or not to try and overwhelm anyone who has a different viewpoint. This usually becomes much more apparent when having a one on one conversation with someone. Many people on the left now a days will just throw out as many talking points as they can without the ability to back any of them up. You want to discuss one topic the second they can’t defend their point they will start talking about 10 other things so the conversation never goes into any depth.  This is also why many of these conversations devolve into just being called racist or something that ends in phobic.

One good public example of this is Tucker Carlson, he has become a champion of the right and it’s for one simple reason. He forces his guests to stay on topic, he never allows them to pull the conversation to some unrelated subject. This many times results in a meltdown or some sort of fit thrown by the guest because they can’t defend their position.

Many of these people can’t handle when someone questions their point of view, for 8 years and probably longer they just fired off their opions with no worry that anyone would question them. This has manifested into lazy and inept journalist who seem to be more interested in writing about their own thoughts and feelings rather than reporting facts. Facts actually seem to be the enemy of many of these people, just today there was a meltdown that President Trump will be releasing a monthly report with crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Why would that upset you unless you know there is an illegal immigrant crime problem? If you know that is the case why are you, not only saying otherwise but also calling anyone who believes so a racist?

Is this the end of the republic?

Many people myself included voted for Donald Trump with the hope that he could bring a business mind to politics. The hope was get an outsider in who has similar mindset to myself, rather than these political insiders that seem to be extremely out of touch. Even before he has taken office he seems to be following through on campaign promises. While this is great and obviously what his supporters want to see, there is the giant cloud looming over what could potentially be a great presidency.

This cloud is a combination of an outgoing president vowing to stay in DC and stop the new PTOUS, and an almost radical left wing media. It is such an unprecedented thing for a outgoing president to say yet it is not only being treated as business as usual, it is being cheered by much of the media. This anti American sentiment has turned into radicalization of the people who follow the left. You see much of it in everyday life, while the media tells people Trump supporters are evil and fascist. Yet it is the Trump supporters who are afraid to put bumper stickers on their cars because they might be vandalized. They don’t want the wear the red MAGA hats in public for fear of violent retaliation.

The hope was after Trump won things would calm down, he is our president the media can’t continue this despicable smear campaign against an elected president. Obviously they should hold him accountable, and of course he would be on a much shorter leash than Obama. But this doesn’t seem to be the case, the lies have just continued like the campaign never stopped. The only reason you would know the election was over, they don’t talk about Hillary Clinton anymore. Now the inauguration hasn’t happened and I still hold out hope things will get better as time passes but I don’t have much confidence that will be the case.

The reason this is a scary thing is the eventual backlash from people who are just trying to support the country and its administration. I didn’t vote for Obama I didn’t like most of his policy or what he stood for, but being just angry at someone because they supported him? That seems like such a crazy thing to me, I might be upset that you don’t see eye to eye about certain things but just disliking someone because they support a politician. This is the climate that has been created and it can only lead to disaster. The media has created a faction in this country of people who hate their fellow Americans because they voted for the PEOTUS. The really scary thing is these factions are millions of people strong, while many of them haven’t been violent to this point I see the hatred boiling over. They really believe that Trump and his supporters are Nazi fascist racists. It seems like only a matter of time until these people start reacting the way you would expect someone to react when confronting a Nazi.

Then from the other side of things there are two major issues as well. One is that most of this hatred is based on lies. You can’t get into detail about defending a lie because there is no truth to it so it is hard to talk about. When you are dealing with someone who refuses to believe/admit it’s a lie where can to go from there? The other issue is the absurd notion that anyone who doesn’t agree with you politically is racist. They planted this seed a long time ago, I remember worrying about this during the Obama campaign in 08. There would be conversations where I would question a policy he was proposing and I would immediately be called a racist. The reason for me being a racist? Was it the policy was going to help the black community and I was trying to stop that? No it was simply because I was questioning Obama. That is a recipe for disaster, this sort of character assassination only works for so long. The next step is exactly what is playing out right now. The people being called racist get tired of defending it so they brush it off as the ridiculous accusation it is, so now the person calling the name thinks that its being embraced, therefore upping their hatred ten fold. When you have tens of millions of people being told they should hate tens of millions of other people in their own country I just don’t know how that ends well.

#BLMKidnapping

This is what we get when we don’t hold people accountable for their actions. This was proven by the reaction of the media and even by people inside the Chicago police force. What is their first instinct when something this vial and disgusting happens? Make excuses, try and find ways to not hold the people involved accountable for their actions. My god some news outlets went as far as to blame White supremacy for this disgusting act. As far as the media goes Steven Crowder had the best response, in the video below he talks about how they had a chance to at least redeem themselves a little. Guess what, they blew it.

Then there was the reaction on twitter. Personally I think if #BLMKidnapping didn’t trend this video never gets picked up by the media. I question if charges are even filed if that doesn’t happen. It was just shocking to see the reaction, some people seem to be more outraged that BLM was being associated than they were with the actual crime. Side note the girls Facebook page was littered with BLM propaganda so associating them wasn’t a reach.

This was a mentally handicapped person being bound and assaulted by 4 adults, how is this not universally despised by everyone? How are news outlets getting away with ignoring the crime and instead discussing a # that trended on twitter about the crime? If BLM is so wrongly being associated with this atrocity, will they raise money for the victim? When Trump supporters were framed for burning down that church, they raised money to help with the rebuild. They wanted to show that the actions by an individual does not represent the movement. Of course it later turned out to be a member of the church who was not a Trump supporter that burned it down. If BLM is so outraged about being associated with this disgusting act where is there gesture of good faith? Why don’t they show that those four individuals don’t represent their movement?

There will be no gesture and for two reasons. The first reason being this is what their movement stands for, it is about Black supremacy and violence. The second being the media wont demand it like they would if roles were reversed and the perpetrators were screaming “Fuck Obama” or “Fuck Hillary”. While BLM is a borderline terrorist organization. You want to argue that then explain why for months every time they showed up somewhere violent riots broke out. Since they have been gone so have the riots.  The media is the real culprit here. They aren’t holding anyone accountable for this action. While they spewed the anti white anti police lies of BLM for months, they can’t even bring themselves to question the motives of these 4 individuals. Well outside of them being silly kids making a stupid decision.

These weren’t kids and they didn’t make a bad decision. These are evil individuals who were emboldened by the propaganda being distributed by BLM and given credence by the mainstream media. These are bad and angry people who are having their misplaced anger legitimized on the nightly news. They think there is so much support for their hate, they don’t even think twice about live streaming it to their social media account. And the worst thing is this will not be the last we see of this. Especially with the media making excuses for these people instead of calling them what they are, sociopaths not fit for society.

Why the left and the media are in panic mode

The left and the media have been in panic mode for a while now. They started to get more wild and bent out of shape the closer we got to the election. Making completely baseless claims about Trump and his past, stirring up race issues then accusing Trump of being the cause. Even going as far as sending people to Trump rallies and having them act violent. Then the media claim it was Trump and his supporters who were at fault. The question is why? Why are the media the left and even some Republican politicians so hell bent on destroying Trump? They say it’s because he’s divisive and racist and just going to be horrible for the country. But is that really the case?

It seems more likely that they are afraid he might actually do some good.  If you think about it most of Trumps campaign was based on telling people he was going to correct a lot of issues. Issues that have been created by both parties. He didn’t run a campaign as a Republican or a Democrat he ran as a fixer. There was no promise to prop up a party the promise was to lift up America. It was almost more like he was in an interview and he was telling Americans how he could fix their company. He wasn’t just trying to appeal to his parties base, he was talking to everyone.

This reminds me of when I have discussed politics with my friends, we don’t agree on most things but the one thing we do agree on is we want what’s best for everyone. When it comes down too it most people don’t just want what’s best for themselves or certain groups, they would like to see everyone succeed. It is only when politicians and the media get involved that people devolve into these specific interest groups. And this division is only increased when the media paints the other side as evil. This is how you get people in cities like Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit to constantly elect people from the same party making the same or similar promises.

Trump wasn’t saying the same tired old things that we are used to hearing from politicians. This is why the media bent over backwards to stop people from listening to him. Most people I know who can’t stand Trump and think he is going to be this horrible dictator, didn’t listen to a single one of his speeches. Myself included, I was on the fence about Trump even after he won the candidacy until I heard him speak. It was different he was talking about things I never heard a Republican talk about, things I feel are important.

And this is exactly why the media is in panic mode. If Trump does just some of what he talked about wanting to do, the politician as we know it is dead in the water. This is why you see the media and politicians working together trying to undermine him. They are trying to cling to their one party system where they divide the country up into little groups and pander accordingly.

Fake news

When I saw this push to censor “fake news” on Facebook because it got Trump elected I had one thought. “Looks like it might be time to delete my Facebook account.” It became immediately clear this was just another fascist left wing push to censor anyone who doesn’t share and push their agenda. I am perfectly aware that there are plenty of fake stories from both sides. But shutting down news that is deemed fake by some outside source, this just reeks of state run media.

Here are the facts, we live in a world where much of our news is procured from the internet. Having grown up along side the internet it was always a joke “But I saw it on the internet so it must be true!”. When did this stop being the case? When did we decide that unless something is fact it shouldn’t be on the internet? The way people used to combat this was by doing their own research, or relying on news that cited sources. I prefer the latter since it is easy for someone to provide links inside of their news articles that can be followed up on.

I have a theory as to why the need to censor “fake news” was triggered by a Trump victory and it isn’t what the media is saying. When Trump first entered the GOP race I didn’t know much about him, obviously I knew who he was but outside of rich and successful I didn’t know much else. Then I started hearing these awful things about how bad of a person he was and racist and so on. Now being conservative leaning libertarian in most of my views I don’t put much stock in any of the mainstream media.

This left me with one choice go out and do my own research and be sure to watch his speeches. As I did this I found that most of what was being reported on him wasn’t true at all. It ranged from flat out lies to misquoting and distorting the truth. While I was already leaning away from the mainstream media this pushed me over the edge. I would guess I get less than 1% of my news from any form of mainstream media be it local or national. I believe this was the case with a lot of people especially as the race to the White House went further and the lies got bigger.

With a Trump victory the media realized they alienated way more people than they thought through this election cycle. Now they are doing the opposite of what they should be doing. This should be a lesson learned situation for them. They should go way back to when they used to report facts and let the people decide for themselves. But instead they are doubling down and trying to discredited any outside media sources. The problem is most people went to these media sources with skepticism, so they were already fact checking. We know these people aren’t lying to us because they never had and then exploited credibility like the mainstream media.

The best way to combat fake news is to treat all news like it’s coming from the internet. While people may not like it, it is the world we live in you need to do some leg work if you want reliable information.
